From Commitments to Actions: a summary of our Positive Actions

[ DECEMBER 2021 ] – REUSABLE BOTTLES TO ELIMINATE PACKAGING

Reusable bottle

Several of the Group’s subsidiaries have taken the initiative to offer their teams reusable bottles. These bottles will enable them to obtain water from distribution points. This action is part of an objective to limit waste and preserve natural resources, biodiversity and the climate.

[ OCTOBER 2021 ] – A WIN-WIN PARTNERSHIP WITH TUBESCA-COMABI

DESCOURS & CABAUD, in collaboration with its partner TUBESCA-COMABI, a manufacturer of height access solutions, has taken steps to reduce the volume of packaging. This collaborative approach has made it possible to eliminate all the sub-packaging of the equipment, which until now has been in the form of thermal film, while guaranteeing the strength of the packaging.

In the end, the amount of packaging was reduced by 50% and energy consumption was limited accordingly. This action is emblematic of the marked orientation of DESCOURS & CABAUD’s purchasing policy in terms of CSR.

[ SEPTEMBER 2021 ] – DEXIS CELEBRATES THE EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK!

The theme was “Safe and Healthy with Sustainable Mobility“, with a strong focus on active and low or zero emission mobility. The DEXIS Express delivery service from DEXIS Netherlands is a sustainable and electric parcel delivery solution. Initially launched in city centres and adapted to narrow or congested streets, the DEXIS Express initiative will continue to expand in the Netherlands. Some figures: – Distance travelled / round: 50 km – 35 customers served – Average speed: 20 km/h – Calories burned: 400 kcal/h

[ JULY 2021 ] – KATIA, A NEW MATISSE FOR THE MUSÉE DES BEAUX-ARTS DE LYON

DESCOURS & CABAUD, a long-standing member of the Musée Saint-Pierre Club, has contributed year after year to the enrichment of the collections and educational programmes of this major cultural institution in Lyon. Classified as a work of major heritage interest by the Ministry of Culture, Matisse’s “Katia à la chemise jaune” has joined the collections presented by the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. To be discovered, on the occasion of its reopening.

[ APRIL 2021 ] – UNITED KINGDOM “AT THE PUMP

DEXIS’ UK subsidiary, HAYLEY, helped a plastic cap manufacturer reduce its energy consumption, operating costs and carbon footprint by upgrading its pumping system. Our client, a market leader in soft drink closures, turned to our subsidiary with a request to assess the performance of its installation via dedicated tests and to look for more reliable, less expensive alternatives in terms of operation, with a lower energy footprint. A co-constructed solution was organised to study possible improvements, in particular through the deployment of a more recent technology. A proposal to reduce energy consumption was implemented in three ways: use of a variable speed drive, management of flow fluctuation on demand and use of the latest generation of high efficiency motors.

[ MARCH 2021 ] – RUNNING FOR A CAUSE

As part of a solidarity race organised by the Sport dans la Ville association, “Jogg dans la ville”, six employees from the head office took part, representing the Group in a 10 km race. DESCOURS & CABAUD has been a partner of Sport dans la Ville, France’s leading association for integration through sport, since 2012.

Our subsidiary PROLIANS NOUVELLE AQUITAINE has also committed itself to another association, with the participation of a dozen employees in a 5-kilometre walk and a 10-kilometre run, organised in Cognac as part of the Pink October campaign. A great solidarity initiative… The aim was to create links between the various entities while supporting a noble cause, through the financing of the registrations, part of which is donated to associations fighting against breast cancer.

[ JANUARY 2021 ] – PROLIANS SMG IN ANNECY: A BEEHIVE HAS ITS NAME

Our subsidiary PROLIANS SMG in Meythet, with its branches in Haute-Savoie, collaborates with Mon Miel (litt. My Honey), a social and solidarity-based company, in order to participate at its own level in the protection of bees. By sponsoring a beehive, new colonies of bees are created in wild and preserved areas. The Mon Miel team, made up of bee professionals since 2011, takes care of the installation and care of the bees to ensure their safety and, at the same time, takes the opportunity to share its passion and know-how with the PROLIANS SMG teams, thus enabling a general awareness of the importance of the role played by these insects.

[ OCTOBER 2020 ] – DEXIS CETIB-PORTRON: A LOCAL SOCIETAL PROJECT

Our subsidiary DEXIS CETIB-PORTRON is working with a young company in Auvergne to combat the isolation of people with reduced mobility by making sport accessible to all through the manufacture of wheelchairs adapted to people with reduced mobility. This action aims to contribute to a better inclusion within our society.

[ JULY 2020 ] – PROLIANS SMG IN ECHIROLLES: A COMMITTED SUBSIDIARY

The Echirolles site of the PROLIANS SMG subsidiary has drawn up a mobility plan in partnership with the Grenoble Metropolitan Council. The aim is to raise employee awareness and encourage them to reduce individual car use in favour of shared and alternative modes of transport. The journeys concerned are both home-to-work and business trips. Several actions, including the deployment of the carpooling application KAROS, the presentation of alternative modes of transport: bicycle, bus, train, as well as financial incentives, have been implemented. As a result, some fifteen employees have already changed their habits by adopting the bicycle as their preferred mode of transport and signing a charter that highlights their commitment. As for the KAROS application, it has been downloaded by 15 employees of the agency who use it regularly.

[ JUNE 2020 ] – DEXIS SLOVAKIA: A FULLY COMMITTED SUBSIDIARY

DEXIS SLOVAKIA has set up several sheltered workshops that integrate disabled employees

By offering work to disabled people, DEXIS SLOVAKIA offers them a unique opportunity to turn a disability into an asset thanks to appropriate support. This strong CSR commitment has led the company to launch various social entrepreneurship initiatives in a variety of fields, such as the automotive, electrical and food industries. The latest initiative is the creation of a sheltered workshop specialising in textile processing, with 28 employees. The initiative has not gone unnoticed: the National Council of the Slovak Republic recently awarded DEXIS SLOVAKIA the title of model company in the field of social entrepreneurship.

[ MARCH 2020 ] – WATERING THE CAP D’AGDE GOLF COURSE: A GREEN APPROACH

HYDRALIANS SOMAIR-GERVAT is participating in the installation of a watering system for the Cap d’Agde golf course by reusing waste water. This is a major national first: the 27 holes of the Agde international golf course will be watered from this year onwards with waste water treated by the town’s Posidonia treatment plant. This water will no longer be discharged into the natural environment as it was before, but will be redirected to this second use. This is an exemplary project that will save 200,000 m3 of drinking water per year, equivalent to the consumption of a town of 5,000 inhabitants. This system will also lead to a reduction in the use of fertilisers and phytosanitary products, as this water still contains nitrogen and phosphorus compounds. In the end, this will meet a dual economic and ecological challenge with regard to global warming and the cost and scarcity of drinking water.

[ FEBRUARY 2020 ] – GREEN MOBILITY: A FLEET OF ELECTRIC CARGO BIKES

Our subsidiary DESTIL PROLIANS has launched a bicycle delivery service in Amsterdam. In order to improve delivery times to construction sites in the Dutch capital, the company had the original, ecological and innovative idea of sending a fleet of electric “cargo bikes” in the company’s colours. As traffic and parking are very difficult in Amsterdam, this initiative guarantees deliveries within 1 to 2 hours. A dedicated application includes route planning, feedback, ratings and tracking information and facilitates this particularly agile process.

[ DECEMBER 2019 ] – THREE GAS-POWERED DELIVERY VEHICLES

In order to develop a fleet of clean delivery vehicles, our subsidiary PROLIANS Ile-de-France is now equipped with 3 trucks running on NGV (Natural Gas for Vehicles). The delivery of our customers located in Paris intramuros is carried out in this way, this source of energy preserving the quality of the air and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This choice is in line with the measures announced by the Paris City Council and the upcoming quota of clean vehicles in company fleets.

[ SEPTEMBER 2019 ] – PREVENTION DAYS A SUCCESS

Two customer days on the theme of risk prevention were organised at the Prolians branches in Vénissieux and Mâcon. This was a new initiative proposed in partnership with MBTP, the mutual insurance company for construction and public works professionals. An MBTP demonstration bus, parked in front of our two Prolians sales outlets, allowed a nurse and an ergonomist to propose various tests, particularly respiratory and visual. Several suppliers gave demonstrations in dedicated workshops: working at heights with a harness, use of safety glasses, scaffolding safety, customised hearing protection, handling with an exoskeleton, etc.

[ MAY 2019 ] – First Extra-Financial Performance Declaration (EFPD)

The Extra-Financial Performance Declaration, which is the result of the transposition of a European directive, must include an analysis of the main risks faced by the company, created by its business relationships, products or services. After a description of the company’s business model, for each identified risk the means of control are detailed and accompanied by monitoring indicators. DESCOURS & CABAUD has published its first EFPD for the 2018 financial year, which follows the CSR reports that the Group has published for the past three years.

[ MARCH 2019 ] – SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT MEETINGS

The annual Safety-Environment meetings, which have been held for 15 years, bring together operational managers and the subsidiaries’ SE correspondents for a day. These meetings are an opportunity to review and discuss the preventive actions in place within the company in terms of the safety of people and property and the environment. These exchanges make it possible to share the best practices implemented locally. This year, they brought together 280 employees in 11 meetings in each region.
