The Statement of Non-Financial Performance, originating from the transposition of a European directive, should include an analysis of the major risks facing the company, arising from its business relationships, its products or its services.
After the description of the company’s business model, the means of countering each risk identified are detailed and accompanied by monitoring indicators.
Descours & Cabaud published its first Statement of Non-Financial Performance for the 2018 financial year, following the CSR assessment that the Group had been publishing for 3 years.
The annual Safety & Environment meetings, initiated 15 years ago, bring together for a day operational managers and the S&E representatives of the subsidiaries.
These meetings provide the opportunity to review the current situation and to exchange views about the preventive actions currently in place in the company relating to both the safety of people and property and the environment. These exchanges allow for the discussion of the best practices implemented locally.
This year they brought together 280 employees in 11 meetings in each region.
At our Baures agency in Montpellier we have launched an eco-driving and road safety training course for the sales force, together with an initiative to raise the awareness of safety risks for drivers of thermal forklift trucks. The aim was to reduce fuel consumption and to lower the accident rate.
About 100 drivers of motor vehicles and light utility trucks attended the training. After theoretical classroom sessions, the drivers were given the opportunity to put into practice what they had learned, accompanied by a specialised tutor.
The first results are encouraging, and if confirmed will clearly mark a change for the better.
With regard to initiatives for the prevention of risks linked to steel stockpiles, a training exercise has been designed by the Descours & Cabaud HSQE department: “Tracking Down Risks”.
This entertaining and participatory exercise shows operators how to detect dangerous situations, encouraging them to make suggestions to improve a situation and to develop better solutions.
370 “Tracking Down Risks” exercises are now available to agencies to help in various situations, including offices, storage halls and steel stockpiles.
An e-learning training course has been prepared and distributed so as to raise awareness among logistical operators about the prevention of chemical risks and the need to comply with regulations for the transporting of dangerous materials by freight. The course focuses on the labelling, loading and transporting of such packages.
Since this course was set up by tech’up (the Descours & Cabaud in-house university) over 350 employees have followed this training.
Three truckloads of unsold products from our import subsidiary have been donated to Handicap International, a charitable association based in Lyon (France). At the end of 2017, over 10,000 parkas and anoraks and 56,000 pairs of gloves were donated to the Secours Populaire charitable association to help underprivileged people in the Lyon region, and also to the association’s France and Overseas network. This initiative enabled numerous people in need to be a little less cold last winter.
Since our employees’ well-being also depends on eating well, Descours & Cabaud Ile-de-France's office has entered into a partnership under which baskets of fresh fruit and vegetables, delivered directly to our agencies, are offered to our employees.
A hydraulic hoisting beam suited to handling welded mesh panels is now being used in many Prolians agencies.
Manufactured in France, this piece of equipment improves safety (removes the risk of falling from height), as well as the productivity of handling operations (4 times higher). This equipment is suited for existing forklift trucks and does not require any prior training for operators.
The environment safety booklet was first drafted about 20 years ago in 1998. It contains approximately 50 pages and provides information on how to actively participate in the onboarding of new employees. It is updated regularly so that our teams can keep using it as an information and awareness-raising tool. The 2017 version is now available.
Prolians has committed to supporting Un maillot pour la vie, an association sponsored by rugby player Fabien Pelous and backed by many professional athletes. A share of OPSIAL (MDD) product sales has contributed to bringing a smile back to sick children as well as raising their hopes, regardless of their illness.
On 6 February 2017, the Ile-de-France Descours & Cabaud agency based in Bonneuil-sur-Marne gave a €2,000 check to Taïg Kris, one of the sponsors of the association.
In order to spread awareness and train our sales representatives on inherent occupational health risks (vibrations, noise, dust, etc.), we have developed specific training sessions to address our clients' concerns and meet their expectations. A flexible and modern e-learning solution is perfectly compatible with sales representatives' schedules and reduces travelling time.
The prevention criteria (noise, vibration, dust, weight, etc.) are taken into account at the referencing selection, by our commercial communications and in the advice given by our sales representatives.
These actions play a positive role in the user's working conditions and environment.
In view of its legal structure and staff numbers, D&C subsidiary Baures has published its first CSR Report. We drafted this report on the basis of the Positive Program and in accordance with the social and environmental transparency requirements for companies. It reflects our vision of an economic growth that is both eco-friendly and fair on a social and societal level.
Our Descours & Cabaud Ile-de-France subsidiary has chosen to carry out deliveries within Paris proper with an NGV truck (Natural Gas Vehicle).
This power source preserves air quality and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. A choice that falls in line with the measures announced by the Paris City Council.
Rubbish recovery options are available in shops for the collection and recycling of accumulators (with the eco-organisation SCRELEC) and electric and electronic equipment (with the eco-organisation ECO-SYSTEME).
Batriboxes and box-pallets will be put in place for this collection.
For the 4th consecutive year, nearly 200 operations managers gathered together throughout the Group's 12 regions for a day dedicated to Safety and the Environment.
In 2015, the subject is chemical products, in order to understand the regulatory changes (CLP, ICPE, …) and to prevent risks, both to our colleagues and our Clients.
As a major player in its field, Descours & Cabaud is aware of its contribution and its responsibility towards Society.
The Group took part in the endeavours of the Goods to Give association (Agence du Don en Nature) by providing batches of clothing, Netbooks (operation "Solidarité Femmes 2014"), as well as the 11th campaign of the Arbres de la Solidarité by the Foyer Notre Dame des Sans Abri.
The expectations of our clients, our knowledge, the products and our suppliers are all changing; therefore our range of responsible products must constantly progress.
Three workshops were organised in September 2014 for the Product Managers of the Group in order to improve the performance of our responsible purchasing policy.
Our first active participation in the "Job dans la Ville" professional integration program resulted in 13 sponsors, 2 visits to the Vénissieux agency, 2 participations in the "Cafés de l'Emploi", 5 company internships and one permanent contract!
A new season of sponsoring and partnership has begun with the Sport dans la Ville association, and the Descours & Cabaud Group has once again announced its participation!
To mark the launch of the 1st PROLIANS COMPLETE catalogue, the Group is proud to present its selection of sustainable, eco-responsible products.
This initiative is supported by the suppliers, and its aim is to offer products that meet a number of key sustainability criteria, important at every stage in the life cycle of the products.
This selection will be continually updated, and currently includes more than 1500 products!
The sorting, recycling and recovery of waste produced by our activities is at the core of the Positive Program.
A national project to quantify the waste, its nature and logistics has been undertaken. It will achieve a significant decrease in volume and costs generated.
«One man's waste is another man's raw material»
In April 2013, the Environmental Code introduced an eco-tax for household waste management derived from chemical products, depending on the nature of the product and the volume of the containers.
Included in selling prices, this eco-tax ensures the treatment of this household hazardous waste (HHW) and limits the impact on both environment and human health.
Handed out and commented upon during each colleague's first day in the company, the “Environmental Security Booklet” has been given a new look!
As a pillar of the CSR initiative of the Group, the Security and Environment aspects are therefore made part of the Positive Program.
The environmental organisation Ecofolio, in the context of its new accreditation, has implemented an eco-differentiated scale to promote good practices.
For its 2014 voluntary statement, in addition to the tonnage, the Group shall apply this bonus/penalty system depending on the nature and the origin of the paper fibre as well as its recyclability.
Seeking to maintain a healthy and safe work environment, the Group has improved its direct and visual communication tools.
Each month, the Security & Environment network can therefore efficiently relay targeted information to people in the field as part of the Positive Program.
The Group is continuing its sponsorship of the Sport dans la Ville association and joins the "Job dans la Ville" program intended to encourage the training and professional integration of young people in companies, as early as 14 years old.
12 colleagues from the Group headquarters chose to sponsor a youngster.
